Flippa announced on Friday that they were rolling out a classified section. The announcement was made in a blog post and they already have the section up and running. The thinking goes that since people are coming to the site to buy and sell websites, that they can also facilitate all the many needs webmasters and small business owners may need to run and grow their business. It also will give members a chance to sell their services and make some money themselves.
Here is a look at the categories:
Products for Sale
People for Hire
General Classifieds
- Affiliate Programs
- Help Wanted
- Link Exchange
- Partnership Proposals
- Traffic Generation
- Wanted to Buy
- Everything Else
Now you are also going to be able to sell your products or services that may be in demand from site visitors. This is making some wonder is Flippa looking to be a Fiverr clone ? Ophelie LeChat made it quite clear in the comments that they are not looking to be another Fiverr with this product offering.
It may not be the goal to be a Fiverr clone but with the traffic coming through Flippa it could certainly bring a lot of transactions for things like scripts and content writing, just to name a few. Flippa certainly has an incentive as they will be making some decent money if the section becomes popular.
Get your listings in front of Flippa’s multitude of savvy website owners, from just $5 for a two-week listing!
You can then pay for a sticky which costs $20. You can also highlight the background for another $10.
Personally I think this section is going to be another good revenue stream for Flippa, provided they install what a few have already asked for, which is a rating system. This is needed to insure the quality and trustworthiness of the classifieds. You have to allow members the ability to let the community know if someone writes good content for example, or if they are spinning articles or scraping them.
Should be interesting to see how much promotion Flippa puts behind the classifieds.
